Holis Named Conference USA Athlete of the Week – GoBlueRaiders.com
DALLAS – Graduate Student Stepan Holis was named the March 2 Conference USA Athlete of the Week after putting on a clinic at the 74th Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic where No. 30 Middle Tennessee defeated three ranked opponents and took home the title.
The Zasova, Czech Republic native went 5-0 over the weekend, three of those wins came in singles competition and Holis clinched the singles portion of all three matches for the Blue Raiders. Stepan earned his first ranked win of his MT career, taking down No. 82 Herman Hoeyeraal of No. 19 Arizona in straight sets at 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
In the championship match against No. 29 Princeton, paired with Edge, they defeated Thomas Bosancic and Filippos Astreinidis at 6-3. Later on in singles, took down Damian Rodriguez after dropping the first set 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the match and give MT its first ever Blue Gray title.
After the weekend, Holis moves to 13-1 in doubles and 8-6 in singles on the season.
As a team, Middle Tennessee has claimed five of seven weekly awards announced by the conference. Out of those five weeks, a different Blue Raider has won the award.

Middle Tennessee will take a few days off before heading to Oklahoma State on Sunday, March 6 and No. 69 South Florida on Thursday, March 10 for two true-road matches.
In the latest collegiate tennis rankings announced today, the Blue Raiders move to No. 15 in the latest ITA Tennis rankings and No. 23 in the Tennis Channel/USTA National Top 25 poll.
