Injury Report: Updated news for Oregon Ducks ahead of game at Colorado – Ducks Wire

DucksWire IU

The Oregon Ducks coaching staff would never admit it, but if there was a week where they could hold back some players due to a nagging injury, this might be the week to do so. With a game against the 1-7 Colorado Buffaloes, the Ducks will likely be able to get by without a couple of their key pieces.

As it turns out, the Ducks might be without a few of their more important guys this weekend. A few starters were missing from both days of practice sessions that were open to media members this week, and others are not quite ready to return, as of yet.

With a tough stretch of games ahead, kicked off by Washington coming to Autzen Stadium on Nov. 12, Oregon wants to make sure it comes home as healthy as possible, and of course, with a win, before the rival Huskies come calling.

The Ducks don’t release an official injury report each week, but based on quotes from head coach Dan Lanning, as well as observations from practice, here is our best guess at what that report would look like:

WR Chase Cota

Status: Doubtful

Chase Cota suffered an apparent knee injury in the first half of last week’s win over California. Coach Dan Lanning said on Monday Cota’s injury is “still to be determined” and that he was unsure of the timeline for the receiver’s return.

LB DJ Johnson

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

Status: Questionable

The Oregon linebacker has missed three practices in the last two weeks, including a practice last week, but still played against California. Johnson has, however, not been seen at practice this week leading up to the Colorado game.

DL Taki Taimani

USATSI 19026410

Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Status: Doubtful

Taki Taimani suffered an injury ankle against UCLA and hasn’t practiced or played since. It would be nice if he can recover to play against his former team in Washington, but that is definitely not a sure thing.

OL Steven Jones

USATSI 16730431

Syndication: The Columbus Dispatch

Status: Questionable

Steven Jones has missed the majority of the season with a lower leg injury but returned to very limited practice last week. He has been seen stretching and rehabbing at practice.

WR Troy Franklin

USATSI 19110643

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

Status: Healthy

Oregon’s top receiver went down with an apparent injury just before the half during the California game, but came out of the locker room and played the entire second half and has been a full participant during practice this week leading up to the game against Colorado.
