Panthers LB Damien Wilson arrested after allegedly threatening to kill ex-girlfriend – USA TODAY
Carolina Panthers linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested in Frisco, Texas, last week and faces an assault charge after allegedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, a police spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Wilson was taken into custody last week and faces a charge of assault with bodily injury of a family member, Frisco Police Sgt. Stephen Byrom told the Dallas Morning News.
Wilson’s ex-girlfriend, Ryan Sokolosky, told the Dallas Morning News that she ended her relationship with Wilson and he showed up at her residence intoxicated and threatened to kill her with a tire iron.
Sokolosky also said Wilson broke her laptop and then tried to run her over with his vehicle. She told the Morning News that she has obtained a protective order against Wilson.

A Panthers spokesperson told the Dallas Morning News on Monday that they were aware of the arrest, and that he was still on the team’s roster as of Monday. USA TODAY Sports’ message to the Panthers wasn’t immediately returned.
“Damien Wilson did not commit any type of assault,” Wilson’s attorney, Toby Shook, told the Morning News. “We look forward to all the facts coming out so his name can be cleared.”
The Panthers signed Wilson to a two-year contract in March.
In 2017, Wilson was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he backed his truck into a woman and brandished a rifle. A grand jury declined to indict him.
Wilson was drafted in the fourth round by the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, playing four seasons there before moving on to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 and winning a Super Bowl. Last season, he appeared in 17 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording 106 tackles, with three sacks.
