Jan. 6 committee releases 46 more interview transcripts from probe
The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol on Friday released its latest batch of transcripts from interviews conducted during the probe. The 46 transcripts, available on the committee’s website, include the panel’s interviews with former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and former President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka. The transcripts show that Trump called McEnany days after she received her subpoena to testify before the Jan. 6 committee, according to McEnany’s testimony.

Former President Donald Trump responded publicly Friday night to the final report released by the House Jan. 6 committee, attacking the committee and refuting its findings that he was ultimately responsible for the insurrection at the Capitol. “The unselect committee [sic] did not produce a single shred of evidence that I in any way intended or wanted violence at our Capitol,” Trump said of the voluminous report in a video posted to Truth Social. Trump, in the five-minute video, repeatedly downplayed the deadly events of Jan. 6 and pushed multiple unproven conspiracy theories surrounding it — including that the doors to the Capitol were “flung open for people to walk in” and that “federal informants” played a role in the violence.

Shortly after 9 p.m. local time, the mall said the lockdown was lifted and everyone inside should leave the building. Please remain in the closest secure location until the lockdown has been lifted.

As the jury deliberated in the trial of rapper Tory Lanez, who is charged with allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Edison — a key witness who has been missing since last Thursday — has been located, a family attorney told ABC News. “He was found and [the] bench warrant was recalled,” Michael Zweiback, the attorney for Justin Edison’s father, Harold Edison said, adding that Justin Edison “came forward today because of what was happening to his family.” Asked if Justin Edison is in custody, Zweiback said, “he was released” and that the “matter [was] dismissed.”

Plan B gets new label by FDA to clarify it doesn’t cause abortion
After more than two decades on the market, the emergency contraception drug Plan B One-Step will get a new label by federal regulators to make clear that the pills work by preventing ovulation and do not cause an abortion or impact implantation of a fertilized egg, the Food and Drug Administration announced Friday. The labeling change came as the result of a request by the manufacturer and would apply to generic versions of the drug, according to the FDA.

Shell has agreed to pay $15.9 million in compensation to communities in Nigeria impacted by four oil spills that occurred from its pipelines in the Niger Delta between 2004 and 2007. “Under the settlement, the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SDC) as operator of the SPDC joint venture will pay an amount of $15.9 million for the benefit of the communities and the individual claimants,” the Shell Petroleum Development Company said in a statement.

American couple could face death penalty for allegedly torturing foster child in Uganda
An American couple living in Uganda accused of torturing their 10-year-old foster child could face the death penalty if convicted of their latest charge, prosecutors said. Nicholas Spencer and Mackenzie Leigh Mathias Spencer, both 32, were arrested and charged earlier this month with aggravated torture, which carries a life sentence if convicted, for alleged abuse spanning two years. This week, they were also charged with aggravated child trafficking, which carries the death sentence if convicted, Joan Keko, an attorney with the Ugandan state prosecutor’s office, confirmed to ABC News.

Less than a month before a class action lawsuit over an infamous Elon Musk tweet goes to trial, a judge this week ordered expert witnesses to explain themselves, a possible sign a case that could cost Musk billions of dollars in damages may be in peril. Musk is scheduled to go on trial Jan. 17 in a California federal court, where he would square off against Tesla shareholders who alleged his 2018 tweets about taking Tesla private cost them millions by causing volatility in the company’s stock price. “While some market participants expressed skepticism about Musk’s tweets, many also accepted them as accurate and truthful as seen by the increase in Tesla’s stock price towards the announced deal price of $420,” wrote plaintiffs’ attorney Adam Apton in a recent trial brief.

3 dead, 3 hurt in shooting at Kurdish cultural center in Paris
Three people were killed and three others wounded, one critically, in a shooting in Paris on Friday, according to the city’s prosecutor, Laure Beccuau. The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, but a 69-year-old suspect from France was taken into custody, according to the prosecutor. An investigation has been opened into murder and aggravated violence charges.
