Trump Jr. fiancée, ex-Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, gets Jan 6 subpoena – USA TODAY

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., who provided fundraising assistance for the Jan. 6 rally, was subpoenaed to testify and provide documents to the special House committee investigating the Capitol attack.

Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said Guilfoyle also was at the White House on the morning of Jan. 6, when President Donald Trump spoke by telephone with Vice President Mike Pence whom the president was pressuring to block the certification of the 2020 election results.

“Ms. Guilfoyle met with Donald Trump inside the White House, spoke at the rally that took place before the riot on January 6th, and apparently played a key role organizing and raising funds for that event,” Thompson said. “Because Ms. Guilfoyle backed out of her original commitment to provide a voluntary interview, we are issuing today’s subpoena that will compel her to testify. We expect her to comply with the law and cooperate.”

More: For the first time, Jan. 6 committee alleges Trump, others engaged in criminal conspiracy to overturn election

The action comes a day after the panel disclosed in a separate legal filing that it had evidence indicating that the former president and others “engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States.”

The committee alleged that the conspiracy occurred as Trump and his associates pushed false theories of election fraud and pressured Pence to invalidate the 2020 election.

Justice Department ‘committed to holding all Jan. 6 perpetrators’ accountable

Attorney General Merrick Garland says the Department of Justice is committed to holding those accountable for the Jan. 6 attacks.

In its letter to Guilfoyle, the committee suggested that the former Fox News host also helped perpetuate false claims of election fraud while speaking at the Jan. 6 rally on the Ellipse.

“We will not allow the liberals and the Democrats to steal our dream or steal our elections,” she told the crowd.

Guilfoyle’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, accused the committee of attempting to “smear” the former president and his family.

“This Committee has routinely abused their power and has made clear through their deceitful and immoral practices that they are not guided by a search for the truth,” the attorney said, adding that his client will “testify truthful to any question.”
